THE South Sydney Rabbitohs will play nine home games and the Bulldogs five home games at Stadium Australia in a blockbuster 2022 NRL season that will also feature the State of Origin series opener on Wednesday 8 June.

Former Rabbitohs captain Adam Reynolds will return to his former stomping ground in Round 2 at 6.15pm on Sunday 20 March . . . but his first outing in a Broncos jersey at Stadium Australia will be against the Bulldogs rather than his former club.

Souths fans will need to wait until Round 9 Thursday 5 May to see the Rabbitohs target their old skipper in a mouth-watering match-up.

The Bulldogs’ Round 2 clash with Reynolds’ Broncos will be followed by key Stadium Australia home games against the Roosters in Round 8 (Sat 30 April, 5.30pm), arch-rivals the Eels on the Queen’s Birthday Monday 13 June (4pm), a Round 18 grudge match against the Rabbitohs on Sunday 17 July (6.15pm), and a Round 25 game against Turbo and the Sea Eagles on Friday 2 September (6pm).

Rabbitohs fans will need to wait until Round 3 to see Souths run out at Stadium Australia . . . but what a game it will be . . . up against arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters at 8pm in Friday Night Football on Friday 25 March.

The Rabbitohs will play three home games in quick succession, following up with a Round 5 clash with the Dragons on Saturday 9 April (5.30pm) and the annual Good Friday blockbuster against the Bulldogs in Round 6 on 15 April at 4pm.

The Good Friday classic between the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs traditionally is the highest drawing NRL game in Sydney each season and will work in synergy with the 2022 Sydney Royal Easter Show at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Rabbitohs will play the Eels at Stadium Australia in Round 16 Saturday 23 July at 7.30pm and will have a Round 23 NRL Grand Final rematch against the Penrith Panthers on Thursday 18 August.

The jewels of the 2022 NRL season will be at Stadium Australia with the all-important opening round of the State of Origin series scheduled (TBC) for Wednesday 8 June and the NRL Grand Final returning to its rightful Sydney home on Sunday 2 October.
